Hardwood floor refinishing.

Sanding and finishing that lifts years of surface wear and brings existing hardwood back to life, in homes and businesses across Nassau and Suffolk County.

A floor that looks finished usually has plenty of life left in it. Under the scratches and the worn finish is the same wood that was laid there, and refinishing brings it back. Customers describe old, worn-out floors coming back looking better than new.

Dust-free sanding

Sanding is done with a dust-free system that keeps the air clear while the work is happening. It is the thing customers mention most often afterward: no sawdust through the house, and rooms left spotless at the end of the job.

Anything that could be damaged is protected before the machines come out, and furniture gets moved and put back where it belongs.

Choosing the color

Stain changes the character of a room more than almost any other decision in a renovation, and refinishing is the moment to make it. The same floor can come back pale and natural or deep and dark.

Colors can be matched to something you already have — a cabinet door, a stair rail, a piece of furniture — so the floor sits with the rest of the house. Andy will talk through the options in the room they are going into, where the light and the walls are part of the decision.

A low-odor, low-VOC finish

The finishes Andy uses are low-odor and low-VOC, so the house stays comfortable while the floor cures. In an occupied home that matters as much as the result.

Ask about the third coat

An extra coat of finish builds a thicker wear layer. It is worth considering in a house with dogs: one customer took the third coat and reported the floors still looking new years afterward.

Using the room again

When the finish goes down, you get real numbers rather than a range.

In most cases you can walk on the floor within 8 hours. Furniture can come back after 48. Andy will tell you if anything about your particular job or your particular finish shifts those windows, and what to watch for during the first couple of days.

Floors worth keeping

Hardwood can be sanded and refinished several times across its life, which is a large part of why it has stayed popular for generations. A floor that has been walked on for thirty years can go back to looking like part of the house and start the count again.
